Looking At You
(Kamala Sankaram + ASM)

Looking At You (work-in-progress) is an immersive techno-noir, music-theater piece confronting the issue of privacy in our digitized society, and the question of how loss of privacy could transform us as a global culture. With a dynamic score inspired by dance music, crime jazz, and operatic arias, Kamala Sankaram and Rob Handel's story of high-tech espionage—including data mined from the audience and revealed in real time—lays bare these urgent questions. This project is presented in collaboration with Anti-Social Music and BRIClab.

BRIClab is a commissioning and residency program that offers local artists time and space to explore and expand the possibilities of their work in music, dance, theater and multi-disciplinary performance.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council, and in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency. Which is basically to say – your tax dollars at work. Yeah, frightening isn't it?
